Your favorite hundred-year-old magazine is crashing the party.

Welcome to The New Yorker on Substack. We’re thinking of this space as a book club, but for magazine articles. Each week, we’ll send you one New Yorker story that we think is worth your time (for free!). It could be a ten-thousand-word, deeply reported investigation into some aspect of the current Administration, or a review of the latest Tame Impala album. It might be the eight-hundred-word dispatch from the sauna world championships that you didn’t know you needed. Or it could be a deep cut from our archives that offers fresh insight into today.

We’ll aim to provide you with an eclectic mix to delight, inform, and occasionally surprise you. But it’ll always be just one essential story, sent directly to your inbox. We’ll also host weekly discussions about our picks, share glimpses behind the scenes, and more. You may even see some familiar faces and names pop up in the Substack chat.
